This medieval village is famous for a battle depicted by Leonardo da Vinci: the clash took place at the foot of the town on 29 June 1440 between deployments made up of men-at-arms in the service of Florence on one side and of Milan on the other side.

Inside the sixteenth-century Palazzo del Marzocco, there is the Museum of the Battle and of Anghiari which is a fundamental point to get to know the village. It is a chronological path. From prehistoric tools, archaeological finds from the Roman age, all the way to  engaging stories and episodes of social history (the catorcio of Anghiari), of historical facts  (the Battle of Anghiari), of history of art ( the Battle of Anghiari painted by Leonardo Da Vinci), ending with a collection of ancient Anghiari firearms.
